I power Blogger -- seriously.

This time around, this page really is a blog. Hurray! I work for Google now, as of October, and more specifically I'm working as a software engineer on Blogger, which Google owns. It's exceedingly cool to work on something I actually was a pre-existing user of (not in a huge way, but I did already share a knitting blog there with a couple of friends -- and still do).

So, setting up this new page is actually part of my work, as well as being a good next step for the site: I set myself a goal for the quarter of learning more about Blogger, including the advanced features like getting a Blogger blog to show up on my own domain. It's my hope that having a real blog format here will make it easier to update this more often, as well as making it easier for friends and stalkers to find other bits of my online presence through the links on the sidebar. I can even update from work; who will know that I'm slacking? :)

There's no real reason to pull down the last year of updates at my bloggishly formatted former Recent Life page. It's been three months since I updated over there! But I'll tell you why: I've been busyashell@google. I've been learning about web apps (Blogger is my first), and figuring out how to deal with my lunches always being free (two words: salad bar), and setting up my free $1/day AdWords account, and learning how to work in the same office as my husband, and things have generally been a giant blur of primary colors.

I did take three weeks off in between jobs, and I did fantastic things like drive to NECCA for a half-day of circus classes with other sufferers of adult-onset athleticism. And I knitted a rather nice pair of socks.

I also finished making this video, which should satisfy any curiosity you'll ever have regarding headstands:

And I went to Oregon where I found a nice fence to perch on.

I'm not even telling you everything, but this is a start.
