Psychology Today had a quote last month that I think applies far beyond clothing:
Style is optimism made visible. It presumes that you are a person of interest, the world is a place of interest, and life is worth making the effort for.
My style this year has been disturbingly "hanging on to sanity with both hands", but I suppose even that is a sign of optimism; assuming that someday, if things ever get better, I won't have made things worse for myself by flaking out in the meantime. I haven't had that much fun lately, but I've exercised and flossed my teeth and maxed out my 401(k), damn it... and if I run across a good climbing tree I'm in shape to climb it.

My husband continues with
his style of rare-but-excellent romantic gestures, like carving me a portrait of my kitty for our fifth anniversary.

The rest of the world continues in
its style too. The word "dumping" comes to mind.
